As a Public school, Tanque Verde has the disadvantage of having to deal with the administration and the districts before being able to run its chess club. This daunting task didn’t stop the school from creating and running a very successful chess club last year thanks to the great support of the Principal, their office and some enthusiastic parents. Tanque Verde produced many strong chess players who still compete on high levels. However, this year, due to changed conditions, there is no active chess club. The administration and I do hope we can fix the glitch and start the chess club in September again.
Tanque Verde will be taught by Daniel Katzel. He is a Chess Expert in his mid-fourties and has been playing chess for 40 years.
Do you know who will be heading up the chess club at Tanque Verde this year, there age and experience level?
Thanks much.
Hello, I have played chess for many, many years and I have accummulated a number of chess sets, books, and related materials. I ran the Chess Club for a few years at Palo Verde Magnet High School. I am now retired and I just hate to see these chess sets etc. collect dust in my garage; so I would like to donate what I have to an up and coming chess club in the area. I found your school via the internet and I was saddened to read your chess club had to be suspened. Our young people deserve to be treated as worth while individuals. Anyway, if you are interested in the supplies I have to donate; email me, or call me at 885-6482 and we can make the necessary arrangements.
