Because of the great proximity to Castlehill grounds (practically next door neighbors), St.Gregory was able to capture the graduating talents from Castlehill and start a very successful chess program there dating to 2004. Twice, the schools Junior High division was able to place in top 5 at the National Championships while also winning numerous State, Individual, and Team Championship titles. Currently, the School administration is working on promoting chess not only at the Middle School level but also at the High School level, where new talents and therefore opportunities are emerging.
