GRAND PRIX #3: MARCH 2, 2013
SPECIAL PRIZE FUND: $240

ATTENTION! THE NEXT GRAND PRIX #4 IS SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 29TH, 2013

The tournament was the 3rd one of the 4 planned Grand Prix events for the 2012-2013 school year.
It had a showing of 50 players ranging from Master to complete beginners.

It was wonderful and heartwarming to see everyone in the same large hall competing for top prizing and doing their very best no matter if a person is only 5 years old (we had 3 kids of that age!) together with 70+ years olds! (maybe we had more but some might not admit their age! just kidding)

The tournament was done based on 3 Section: OPEN, RESERVE and BOOSTER.

This time the OPEN Section had a very decent showing of 1900+ players ad the goal was to offer a good alternative to complicated drives to Phoenix for the Master Treks. We are happy that we accomplished the goal on that front! Special Thanks go to Andy Lebovitz, Ethan Li and Derek Chen for not being afraid to “sign up” and attract other players with their presence.

On top of this we had a good Prize fund of $240 to match all the trophies and medals that we give out for top 3 spots per section+ many special trophies for most deserving participants based on various merits for the particular event.

Several players had a “brilliant” performance and gained a great deal of rating points:

Here are the names of just few most impressive accomplishments:

James Knepler (Booster) gained an entire basket of rating points- 194 rating point gain to all-time high of 305!
Joseph Wang (Booster) gained 134 points to his all-time high of 859!
Sameer Shah (Booster) gained 86 points to his all-time high of 746!
Jeevaj Bondalapati (Booster) gained 122 points to his all-time high of 728!
Christine Iacomini (Booster) got her provisional rating to her own all-time high of 562!
Aleks Bekker (Reserve)- gained 93 points and went to all-time high of 1110!
John Henry Clashman (Reserve) – gaing 106 points to his own all-time high of 1079!
Ryan Zou (Reserve) gained 57 points to 1050. 16 points away from his own all-time high.
Rueshil Fadia (Reserve) gained 76 points to 897. Almost broke his all-time high also.
